Advocating for Gender Equality

Back to Case Studies

Gender equality at Maxed BPO is not a poster on the wall — it is a set of concrete practices. We run mentorship circles, publish transparent promotion criteria, and host regular listening sessions so that every voice on the floor shapes how we work and who we promote.

Advocating for gender equality began with an uncomfortable but necessary exercise: looking honestly at our own numbers. Who was getting promoted? Who was being asked to lead? Who was staying quiet in meetings, and why? The answers gave us a clear starting point for change.

One of our first commitments was transparency. We published the criteria used for promotions and pay bands so that advancement no longer depended on knowing the right person or self-promoting loudly. Managers were trained to recognise and interrupt the small biases that quietly shape everyday decisions.

We also created mentorship circles that pair emerging leaders with senior colleagues, deliberately ensuring women and underrepresented staff have sponsors who advocate for them when opportunities arise. These circles have become a pipeline, moving talented people into roles they might previously have been overlooked for.

Perhaps most importantly, we host regular listening sessions where staff can raise concerns without fear. The feedback is not always easy to hear, but it is the engine of our progress. Equality, we have learned, is not a milestone you reach once — it is a practice you renew every single day.
